I belong to a couple online writers' groups. One of the things we're challenged to do is journal three pages per day. Yikes. Three whole pages? There are days when that task is overwhelming. Okay, to be honest, on most days that task is overwhelming. Here's what they (the experts, the pros) didn't specify...the size of the journal. If the challenge seems daunting to you, start with a smaller journal. If you don't think you can fill three pages then do two pages. I'm not one of the experts but I give you permission to start with what is doable. Baby steps.

Zechariah was actually referring to the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand because they were ready to rebuild the walls in Jerusalem. You're getting ready to build something too...a writing portfolio. Baby steps are okay because, once the task becomes doable, you will put your pen in motion and words will flow. Now go write something you crazy, young whipper snapper.
