How Has God Called You to Fulfill the Great Commission?

I'm probably not quite this bold although I am called to fulfill His Great Commission.

This past Sunday my pastor, Chris Wadle, asked the congregation, "How has God called you to fulfill the Great Commission?" I didn't have to look around to see who God had under His Holy Spirit spotlight. It was pointed directly at me. Pastor Chris' question gripped my heart as I bent over in my seat.

To refresh your memory, Christ's Great Commission is mentioned in the gospels. In Matthew, Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20, ESV)

We're all mandated to share the good news of Jesus with those who don't know Him as Savior. Sometimes it's done one-on-one, which has proven to be the most effective way to tell others about Jesus. I admit, I'll never be as bold as the man in the above picture. However, that doesn't excuse me from obedience to His call to fulfill the Great Commission.

One of the ways I fulfill the Great Commission is serving children. Over the past 50+ years, I've ministered to multitudes of children where I've had the privilege of leading many to salvation in Jesus. Even now, I continue to serve children on a regular basis. What an incredible honor it's been.

There's another way God has challenged me to fulfill the Great Commission, and to be honest, I haven't been as obedient as I should be in walking it out. God has called me to use the written word to draw lost souls to Him.

My desire is for this website to be a light-hearted place where I can be an encouragement to authors while glorifying the Lord. Which I do. Sometimes. Sadly, I've been sporadic in visiting my own website and it's been months since I've posted an article. I believe this is why the Holy Spirit convicted me. I've been remiss to consistently share my faith through my writing.

I don't have all the answers yet, but there must be a way to be as quirky as ever while drawing folks closer to Jesus. I'm thankful for the reminder that His call to write affords me an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus with others.

May I be found obedient to His Great Commission through one-on-one encounters with people, through serving the children God has placed in my life, and through the written word.
